Asbestos Surveys

We provide a comprehensive range of surveys to meet all needs.

Asbestos Surveys

Green Contract Services provide a full range of asbestos surveys to enable the people who control premises to meet their obligations to asbestos in the most efficient and cost effective manner, and in accordance with the HSE Guidance HSG264.

By carrying out an asbestos survey, a risk assessment can be produced that should prevent or reduce exposure by highlighting the presence of the product before work commences. The ultimate aim of a survey is to prevent many unnecessary deaths in years to come by assessing and controlling potentially hazardous working environments.

Gathering Information using Surveys

The two basic types of asbestos surveys are outlined in HSG264 – Asbestos The Surveyors Guide. The theory behind each of the survey types has been greatly simplified to aid the selection process, however, Green Contract Services can offer services tailored to meet client and site specific requirements. Assuming a material is free from asbestos when it is not could result in prosecution if workers are exposed. During a survey, information is gathered on aspects of the item under investigation such as its location, condition, product type and associated occupant activity and likelihood of disturbance.

Green Contract Services is UKAS ISO/IEC 17020 accredited to conduct asbestos management surveys and fully able to undertake refurbishment and demolition surveys under HSG 264.

Every member of our team of highly experienced asbestos surveyors holds a BOHS P402 certificate and is fully trained and audited.

Management Survey (formerly known as a Type 1 or 2 Asbestos Survey)

A standard survey, the purpose of which is to locate, as far as is reasonably practicable, the presence, extent, and condition, of any suspect asbestos containing materials in the property/building.

The survey will take into consideration the likelihood of damage or disturbance during normal occupancy and assist in preparing an ongoing action and management plan for the building.

Refurbishment/Pre-Demolition Survey (formerly known as a Type 3 Asbestos Survey)

This type of survey aims to find the asbestos behind surfaces which will be affected anyway during repairs, maintenance, alterations or demolition. Typically, the survey criteria involves intrusive, investigative and destructive means. The premise behind this type of survey is that the structure is either being demolished or is being significantly refurbished. We can provide a mixture of a localised Refurbishment Survey for smaller projects with a Management Survey and report update following any asbestos removal.
